about

Odyssey (2018) This song is influenced by a book I read called ‘Falling Upward’ by Richard Rohr, which deals with ‘a spirituality for the two halves of life’. Instead of reaching the top of your ‘hill’…then being on a downhill run…he suggests that the second half of life is another great journey which requires a major evolution on our part to ‘live life’ rather than merely exist. Rohr compares this to the classic Greek epic poem, the ‘Odyssey’ where Odysseus expects to retire to a quiet life after fighting for 10 years in the
Trojan War…but that instead his life takes a major, unexpected twist. The first half of this tune is quite ordinary & repetitive…while the second half launches into life!
